The New Testament Greek word for grace is charis, the provision of salvation. It refers to God’s love in action towards people who deserve the opposite of His love. We see & know God’s amazing grace & love for us through Jesus. God sent His son to the world to die on the cross for us, our sins so that we are forgiven & our relationship with God is restored. God’s grace changes us now & forever. That hope we have in Jesus changes our lives forever.
Can you imagine being Mary & seeing the story of God’s plans for Jesus to save the world through her son unfold? What Jesus did for us is an extraordinary gift of love, sacrificial love, grace and mercy. Jesus is the best gift ever. Jesus changes us, His grace changes us when we rest our faith in Him. “ Remind the people to be subject to rulers & authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, 2 to slander no one, to be peaceable & considerate, & always to be gentle toward everyone. 3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived & enslaved by all kinds of passions & pleasures. We lived in malice & envy, being hated & hating one another. 4 But when the kindness & love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth & renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. & I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent & profitable for everyone.” Titus 3:1-8 These are words of hope, the hope we have in Christ. His love, life & grace saves us, gives us eternal life & hope. God’s grace changes us when we put our faith, hope & trust in Him. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good & not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” 2000 years after Bethlehem God’s grace is still changing our lives still changing our lives forever. #MerryChristmas
