excellence in animation
You have a passion for the arts, specifically animation. How awesome it is that with modern technology pursuing this passion is possible from wherever we are in the world. Whether we see animation as a creative expression for storytelling and sharing who Christ is or potentially a dream job in a secular world, the opportunity to work towards that goal can start right from home via Zoom.
If you wonder what is it that makes a difference between excellent work or someone who gets the job and doesn't, there are two things at the top of the list. they are work ethic and a solid foundation. This is true whether you dream of writing, art for animation or being a part of a production team.
Let's look and see what Disney says they require of animation artists. According to the company website, for animators, WDAS is looking for a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Animation OR related field OR equivalent work experience. The company is looking for a range of experience, but you should have at least 2 years computer animation experience with Maya or a similar program. Hmm... that says three different things. Yet all are true in most animation companies. You either need the degree, or work experience. That means you need to be able to demonsgtrate your excellence at your craft. Excellence honors God but is also one of the big differences between those who get hired or into the top schools. and those that don't.
At CEG our goals are to come alongside you in your spiritual journey as well as your pursuit of excellence in the gifts and talent God has given you. Here are some ways you can work towards excellence in animayion with CEG.
art for animation
Many start with visions, characters they've been drawing for years. They can see them vividly in their minds. They even look good on paper. That is a great start. We need to be excellent. As Christians in entertainment it is very important we don't settle for mediocrity. That means even if we think we are good at our craft we need to set a solid foundation in art in order to reach excellence. Doing so will help us to develop characters, art, storyboards, animation projects, get into the best schools or work to create the best examples of work to enter the professional world of animation. The place to start is 101 Art For Animation even if we've been drawing for awhile.
